McMonagle students were overjoyed to have such an outpouring of volunteers come in from NBC25 and FOX66 News to help celebrate National Reading Month. We had meteorologist Leslie Toldo, Courtney Bennett, Rebecca Watson and Gary Pringle who so graciously donated an hour out of their busy day to come and read to classes. Having our guest readers in from the stations really made an impression on the students. Through their visit, we may have inspired some future students to become involved in working for a television station.
Each volunteer shared what job they have in the making, delivering, and reporting of the news daily. Some of the volunteers shared when they developed their love of reading, their favorite books, how reading is important to their job and if they work hard, they can achieve anything. It was such a positive experience for both guest readers and students and all will be looking forward to future visits.
