FLINT, Mich. - March is National Reading Month and throughout the month schools across the country are encouraging people from the community to come in and spend an hour reading to a local classroom.
The reason is simple.
According to ReadingIsFundamental.org, 34% of kids entering kindergarten lack basic reading skills and 63% of kids read below grade level.
To help kids get excited about reading, our Amanda Chodnicki along with reporter Jasmyn Durham had a chance to read to the students at McMonagle Elementary School.
